  9.     JPL Director Dr. Edward C. Stone will receive the 1991 ARCS
  10. Foundation Science Man of the Year Award for outstanding
  11. contributions to the field of science at the foundation's 34th
  12. Annual Ball, to be held Saturday, April 20, at the Regency
  13. Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
  14.     Stone will be honored for his longstanding contributions to
  15. science as project scientist of the Voyager Mission to explore
  16. the outer planets of the solar system.  
  17.     Presenting the award to Stone will be Mrs. George Acker,
  18. president of the Los Angeles chapter of ARCS, and Charlotte
  19. Meier, chairman of the ball.  Television host and master of
  20. ceremonies, Art Linkletter, will be on hand to interview Stone.
  21.     Since its inception in 1958, the ARCS (Achievement Reward
  22. for College Scientists) Foundation has provided more than $12
  23. million in scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students in
  24. the natural sciences, medicine and engineering.
  25.     The foundation's Los Angeles chapter supports nine colleges
  26. and universities in Southern California, including the California
  27. Institute of Technology (Caltech), Harvey Mudd College,
  28. Occidental, Pomona, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the
  29. University of Southern California and UCLA.
  30.     The ball opens at 7 p.m. Saturday, with the award's ceremony
  31. beginning at 8:30 p.m.  The Regency Beverly Wilshire Hotel is
  32. located at 9500 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills, Calif.
